These are specially prepared using fine quality real horsehair. The mane hair is glued & stitched onto a tape to be set securely into a groove or slot cut in the horse's neck using the leather strips provided.

The base lengths of the manes are approximately: Small - 8", Medium - 9 1/2", Large - 11", but you should have the mane to hand before cutting the groove. The mane does not include a seperate forelock, but is created but combing a small section between the ears, the 'join' is hidden beneath the headband of the bridle. 

Mane hair is layered & is approximately 12-18 inches long. Tails are normally approx 16-18inches long for Small Horses, 20-22 inches long for Medium or Large Horses, made up ready to glue into the tail hole.

Nails Fitting instructions are included.

I love this pre-made set. I build rocking horses and have been buying bulk horse hair for the mane and tail. Setting that took about 3 hrs of wrestling the hair, nails and leather into the groove. This pre-made set is much easier to work with and I set it in about a half hour. I found it was easier to nail the mane directly into the groove, eliminating the first piece of leather. Not sure if this will make a difference in the long run. It lays down beautifully after about one night. The bulk hair I had been using stuck out wildly for several weeks.
