Our Workshop & Team
Tucked away in the charming village of Fangfoss, just outside York, England, you’ll find the heart of our business — our shop and workshops. This is where craftsmanship, creativity, and a genuine love for what we do come together.
We take great pride in our work, and we hope that whenever you speak with a member of our team, our enthusiasm and passion for rocking horses are impossible to miss.
A Small Team with Unrivalled Skill
We may be a small team, but between us, we share decades of experience in every aspect of the craft. From design and restoration to hand-finishing the final details, each team member plays an important role in bringing our rocking horses to life.
Our shop is led by four dedicated team members, always ready to help with your orders, answer your questions, and guide you through every step of your journey with The Rocking Horse Shop.
Within our leatherwork department, another four talented craftspeople combine over 50 years of experience. Whether they’re creating bespoke leather accessories, fitting tack, or handcrafting one of our 100+ unique saddle combinations, their attention to detail is second to none.
Our wood and metalwork team includes three skilled makers who prepare timber packs, bend swing irons, carve new horses, and lovingly restore treasured pieces to their original glory.
Handcrafted Under One Roof
We’re incredibly proud to have our own wood, leather, metal, and paint workshops, allowing almost everything we create to be made right here on-site. This independence means that each rocking horse is bespoke, handmade, and tailored to meet the exact needs of our customers.
Visit Us in Fangfoss
Visitors are always welcome at our on-site showroom, where you can explore a beautiful display of finished rocking horses, restoration projects, and everything you might need to start creating your own.
For those curious to learn more about the craft, we also offer guided tours of our workshops. If you’d like to visit, please call ahead to ensure one of our team is available to show you around. We’d be delighted to share the magic of our workshop and the story behind every rocking horse we make.
